How to achieve Yoon Se-ri’s look in ‘Crash Landing on You’

The Korean drama Crash Landing on You has taken the world by storm, and one of the reasons why is because of how gorgeous Yoon Se-ri is. Played by Son Ye-jin, Yoon Se-ri is a Chaebol heiress with perfect skin and great fashion sense – and we would love to be her.

Yoon Se-ri’s look is likely to set the trend for Korean makeup and fashion this year. Besides, K-drama fans will want to satiate the irresistible fantasy of having a man like Yoon Se-ri’s on screen squeeze, Captain Ri Jyung Heok (Hyun Bin), fall in love with them.

As such, we have done our research to find out how we can replicate her look in the show as best we can. Read on.

Yoon Se-ri’s Clothes

Obviously, Se-ri’s style in North Korea doesn’t showcase her real sense of fashion, so we’re going to focus on her outfits as a South Korean heiress.

Stock up on co-ords.

A lot of the pieces in Se-ri’s wardrobe seem to consist of classy co-ords (short for “co-ordinates”). From plaid pantsuits to monochrome blazer-and-skirt combos, Se-ri always looks well put together at work because of her stylish co-ords. Oh, also, tweed jackets (à la Chanel) will be making waves this year.

Choose your dresses wisely.

Monochrome long-sleeved dresses are also a staple in Se-ri’s wardrobe. Her choices are never boring, though. Although the sleeves of her dresses are always long, the dresses themselves hug her figure in all of the right places. She also chooses items with textures and colours that stand out, such as the knitted Balmain dress and the bright purple velvet dress that she wore.

Always accessorise.

From the beginning of the show, we’ve known how much Se-ri values accessorising. After all, she owns skincare conglomerate Seri’s Choice. Throughout the show, we see her wearing bold necklaces and dainty earrings at every opportunity. Even her choices of bags always stand out wherever she goes.

Yoon Se-ri’s Hair

Even with her supposedly offbeat ‘Goodbye’ hairstyle in North Korea, Se-ri’s hair looked healthy, neat, and well-taken care of; so we will focus on hair care and haircuts more than the different hairdos that she had in the show.

Give your hair some layers.

According to Son Ye-jin’s very own glam team, she was given layers around the face so that she would still look charming whether she wore her hair up or down. These soft layers also made it possible to create more sophisticated looks when needed.

Part your hair differently.

Do you tend to always part your hair in the middle? Try parting it in a zig-zag manner instead to give your hair more volume from the roots.

Use the right hair products.

To achieve Se-ri’s glossy locks, try using a pre-shampoo mask before your usual shampoo and conditioner. Ye-jin’s glam team also shared that they used L’Oreal Elnett Satin Hair Spray and Kérastase Elixir Ultime Essence on her hair.

Yoon Se-ri’s Makeup

Se-ri mastered the ‘No Makeup’ makeup look in Crash Landing on You. In fact, she was barely wearing any cosmetics in the scenes set in North Korea. To keep things real, she wore only some concealer sparingly and a smidge of tinted lip balm. Here are some tips on how to achieve her light-as-air look.

Son Ye-Jin wore makeup sparingly in her North Korean scenes.

Switch to transparent mascara.

Mascara has always been a staple of makeup to make lashes look fuller, longer, and thicker. However, if you are aiming for a ‘No Makeup’ look, it would be best to switch to transparent mascara. After curling your lashes from the root to the tip with an eyelash curler, brush on some of the transparent mascara and then press a scorched stick against your lashes to keep the curls in place.

Use a tinted lip balm.

Although Se-ri uses brighter lipstick when she goes back to Seoul, she mostly used tinted lip balm to give her lips some colour in North Korea. Try Kiehl’s Butterstick Lip Treatment to ensure that your lips stay smooth and hydrated with just a hint of colour.

Check out the exact products they used for Se-ri.

Ye-jin’s glam team shares some of the products that they used for the show: Ma:nyo Herbal Fresh Moist BB Cream, Ma:nyo Herb Cushion in Beige/Ivory, Jennyhouse Air Fit Artist Eyeshadow in Rosy Beige/Mocha Latte, Tonymoly Back Stage Gel Eyeliner in Brown, and Jennyhouse Air Fit Lipstick in Monica Robe.

Try out these tips and show us your best attempts at achieving Yoon Se-ri’s look!
