Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2020 – here are all the joyous activities your family needs to welcome the new year

Celebrate in the city with a plethora of activities happening at Marina Bay and the Civic District as we get set to usher in the new year. Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2020 will light up the city skyline and bring people from all walks of life together to celebrate the occasion with an exciting line-up of events and experiences.

the New Year’s Eve celebration will feature spectacular fireworks that can be viewed from around the bay, dazzling light projection displays, multi-sensory musical, riveting international circus acts, music performances, an array of family-friendly outdoor activities and more – here’s all of them:

Poinsettia Wishes Floral Display

  • Gardens by the Bay, Flower Dome

With creative direction by the Ambassador of Denmark to Singapore, Her Excellency Dorte Bech Vizard, this year’s yuletide display lends a Christmas twist to iconic landmarks in the Nordic region. Amidst a landscape of poinsettias and winter blooms in shades of red, blue, yellow and white, a charming choir of Nordic gnomes called Nisse adds to the festive cheer.

ChariTrees 2019

This year, over 200 specially designed physical and digital Christmas trees will be displayed at the Marina Bay waterfront promenade and surrounding precinct for six weeks to celebrate the spirit of giving and encourage all of us to do something good for our community.

Christmas Wonderland 2019

Singapore’s most popular year-end event, Christmas Wonderland, is back with an awesome line-up of activities that will surely delight the whole family. It includes 10 new parades, productions, and colourful installations.

Christmas at ArtScience Museum

Santa Claus will be flying his magical sleigh into FUTURE WORLD: Where Art Meets Science! Bask in the festivity cheers as the iconic Sketch Town installation transforms into Sketch Christmas, a virtual Christmas Wonderland.

Esplanade Presents: Come Together

  • Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay

Come Together for a time of collaboration, reflection, and revelry. One can look forward to fresh collaborations between artists and reunion shows. There will also be free shows at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre on weekends, public holidays and eve of public holidays.

Esplanade Presents: Voices – A Festival of Song 2019

A Festival of Song is a three-day celebration of vocal music. Voices 2019 will continue to feature a diverse range of forms and styles of singing, including choral, a cappella, musical theatre, show and pop choir, classical singing, jazz and more.

Sneak preview of #futuretogether

Take a peek into the #futuretogether – an immersive art exhibition jointly presented by Gardens by the Bay and GIC, and designed by teamLab in support of the Singapore Bicentennial. From 15 December, the public will be able to catch a glimpse of three out of the seven exhibits ahead of its public opening on 16 January next year.

The Great Circus of Europe

Presented by Uncle Ringo, enter the Big Top and get up close and personal with acrobats and gravity defying motorbikes, contortionists and clowns. Don’t forget to indulge in the carnival games, thrill rides and the food street.

STAR ISLAND SINGAPORE COUNTDOWN EDITION 2019-2020

STAR ISLAND Singapore returns this New Year’s Eve as part of the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2020. Step into the centre of a grand multi-sensory fireworks musical show that marries the latest technologies with the most stunning Japanese- designed fireworks, larger-than-life pyrotechnics, 3D surround sound and a stellar cast of artists into a single, seamless performance.

Count down to the New Year with Singapore’s brightest stars at the biggest party in town at The Promontory @ Marina Bay! Let’s Celebrate 2020 by Mediacorp will be a celebration of music, dance and fashion, spotlighting the top talents from Singapore.

Performances include Republic Polytechnic’s Electronic Music Production, Dru Chen, Glen Wee, Astronauts, Jasmine Sokko, Benjamin Kheng, Aisyah Aziz, “Papa Rock” Ramli Sarip, and Mediacorp artistes.

Starlight @ The Lawn

Starlight @ The Lawn promises a night of family-friendly fun with a line-up of children activities, roving and stage performances, food and beverages and more!

Unwind @ Civic District

  • Empress Lawn and Connaught Drive
  • 31 December 2019 (4 PM – 1 AM)

The streets at the Civic District will be closed once again to create a special car-free zone as an extension of the celebrations around the bay. Unwind @ Civic District with a variety of activities for visitors at the Empress Lawn and along Connaught Drive, and enjoy a night with friends and loved ones while indulging in a wide variety of food and drinks.

Build a Dream light projection shows

In partnership with the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre and Giving.sg, Marina Bay Singapore Countdown 2020 will bring back the Build a Dream light projection shows featuring artworks by individuals from selected social service organisations, including:

  • SHINE Children and Youth Services
  • Beyond Social Services
  • Dyslexia Association of Singapore
  • Yishun Community Hospital

The illustrations will transform the facades of The Fullerton Hotel Singapore, ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands and the Merlion with nightly light projections in the last week of December. The public can also do their part to support the social service organisations and their beneficiaries by donating or signing up as a volunteer here from 4 November to 31 January 2020.
