Happy, excited, relaxed – these are some of the emotions that travellers should experience while on a well-deserved holiday. However, according to a recent study by Sompo Holdings Asia (Sompo Asia), the most common emotion is not among these.
In their research among 5,000 samples across 5 Asian countries, Sompo Asia found that 9 out of 10 people want to have intense experiences and enjoy things that break up the boredom of their day-to-day lives. However, expectation often contradicts reality. Many travellers do not think travel insurance is essential until they encounter an unfortunate incident that leaves them feeling helpless and distressed.
NBCUniversal International Networks and Sompo Asia are on the lookout for ‘Asia’s Most Unfortunate Traveller’; someone who has had more than their fair share of unfortunate incidents while travelling.
Asia’s most unfortunate individual will win a trip to Japan where he or she will have the opportunity to turn their fortunes around while starring in their very own travel series, with the absolute peace-of-mind that comes with being protected by Sompo’s comprehensive Go JAPAN by TravelJoy insurance.
The interactive social-led mini-series, Asia’s Most Unfortunate Traveller Japan Diaries will allow viewers to submit their stories and share their travel tips with our Unfortunate Traveller and series host Shizuka Anderson.
The content will be featured in real-time through a daily video mini-series available on DIVA and E! across Facebook, Instagram and Instagram stories, where viewers will discover whether our Unfortunate Traveller can overcome his or her misfortune, and experience a memorable trip of a lifetime. The daily episodes will also be available on Sompo Asia’s Facebook and Instagram.
Do you have an unfortunate travel story to share? Or know someone else who’s been caught in a disastrous (but hilarious) situation abroad? Share your unfortunate travel story here or on Instagram using the hashtag #sompogojapan.
Casting is open from now until 31 October 2019, with further details available here. From 1 November 2019, you can vote for the most deserving Unfortunate Traveller.
