[Hotel Review] Holiday Inn Express Bangkok Sathorn

For business travelers to Bangkok looking for a place to stay as a convenient base for easy access to the Central Business District, Holiday Inn Express Bangkok Sathorn is a hotel worth checking out.

The smart hotel is located in the middle of Bangkok’s Sathorn business district and Silom entertainment hub. It is just a short 3 minutes’ walk from the Chong Nonsi BTS Skytrain Station, linking you to other attractions in the city by train.

During my stay, I was able to get to Siam Paragon, Terminal 21 and various attractions in Bangkok easily and quickly via BTS. There is a bridge near the hotel and Chong Nonsi BTS station (light green line) whereby you be able to take some cool pictures of the office crowd in the CBD:

There are also several eateries and restaurants nearby to the hotel and various massage shops as well as convenience shops.

The hotel is one of of a series of four Holiday Inn Express hotels in Bangkok which follows the express concept for travelers who are looking for great value and a hassle-free travel experience. What do I mean by that?

For one, the hotel has no porters or bellboys. Instead, there are luggage trolleys provided for free which you can use to cart your luggage to your room directly. This totally suits me because it is faster this way and I always carry my luggage to my room where possible when I check in to save time.

Express Start Breakfast

For breakfast, you can opt for the free Express Start Breakfast or Grab and Go option. The former is a no-frills breakfast experience featuring international and Thai fares while the latter is for those who are in rush and would prefer to just grab and go.

For the Grab and Go option, there are takeaway containers and cups provided to make it convenient for you to pack everything yourself and be on the go quickly. This is particularly useful when you are rushing off to catch a flight or for an early morning meeting.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel at your convenience and there is also a 24-hour fitness centre, a self-service laundry facility and a 10-person meeting room. There are ironing facilities provided in the laundry room for those who need to iron your stuff after washing and drying. Nifty!

Meeting room

On it”s own, each of these services and facilities help guests to save time and as a whole, they provide for a holistic, fuss-free and relaxing travel experience, making it a smart choice for savvy business and leisure travelers who are looking for the best location combined with the best value.

The hotel features 184 modern design rooms with unique artwork painting various scenes of life in Bangkok. Here’s are photos of the room I stayed:

All rooms feature a tea and coffee maker, in-room safe, refrigerator, 32-inch LCD TV and an ergonomic work station. I especially like that the room power sockets come with adaptors which can fit different plugs for different countries.

A soft and a firm pillow are also provided for each guest so you can directly choose which you prefer to rest your head on. It’s little details like this that make the services and facilities exceedingly thoughtful for a pleasant stay.

For travelers who are conscious of your travel footprints for a sustainable future, all Holiday Inn Express hotels use the IHG Green Engage system, an innovative online environmental sustainability system that gives hotels the means to measure and manage their impact on the environment.
