Caffé B, a mainstay at Marina Bay Sands for 6 years, has moved to a new home at 64 Club Street, taking over an entire three-storey heritage building to offer their distinct dining concept with Japanese and Italian fusion cuisines as well as signature cocktails.
The sprawling 170-seater venue is anchored by an impressive bar on the ground floor, similar to the bar and restaurant concept at the previous Marina Bay Sands outlet. Fashioned to serve innovative and signature cocktails Caffé B is celebrated for, the bar will also serve an extensive range of bar bites. Check out these two creative drinks I sampled during my visit:
I don’t usually drink much alcohol, but I was tempted to try these two cocktails because of the classy presentation and found them to be pretty delightful – not too strong in alcoholic flavours and fun on the palatte.
For those looking to fill their tummies, 80 guests can enjoy dinner indoors on the first floor. On a clear night, alfresco seating is available for up to 30. The second floor opens up to additional dining space. A total of 60 guests can enjoy their meal here – a perfect setting for large dinner parties. With its own entrance, the third-floor is available for private booking and is allocated for those who wants some privacy and exclusivity.
The new Caffé B is helm by Chef Masanao Saito. The refreshed menu offers innovative Italian cuisines with seasonal and the finest Japanese ingredients. Inspired by the minimalist Japanese art of plating, the presentation also plays a big part in the final dining experience under his watch. Chef Saito has been hand-picked by Caffé B after his successful stints at renowned Japanese restaurants in Singapore including Hanashizuki, 5 Nines and as the Personal Chef to the Japanese Ambassador. Before coming to Singapore, Chef Saito earned his culinary stripes at some of the finest kitchens in the world including Sagat in London and Michelin Starred Mathias Dahlgren in Stockholm.
These were some of the dishes I sampled:
The standout dishes for me were the Farmer’s Egg, Lobster Risotto and Squid Ink Spaghetti. For the latter dish, the squid were finely cut into thin slices so that you can splurge them down together with your spaghetti, combining the two flavours. The Farmer’s Egg is a very pretty dish to look at and is pack full of flavours for such a small item.
All the dishes are very pretty to look at and that adds to the overall culinary experience.
Caffé B has it’s pool of loyal customers, cultivated over the years at their previous Marina Bay Sands outlet and this largely Japanese customer base has followed them over to Club Street. The bar is popular and they have a wide selection of drinks available.
While their previous venue is in a more prime real estate, I actually like this Club Street venue better because of it’s unique charm, tucked away on it’s own in a quieter corner of the busy bar and pub stretch in the CBD area. Perfect for a nights out with a group of friends or clients whereby you require a more intimate dining experience with quality food and drinks.
