This noodle has almost zero calorie, zero carb and it’s REAL

Losing weight is simple in theory – just make sure you register calorie deficit daily. You burn more calories than what you ingest. Simple.

However, in reality, there are those insatiable hunger pangs and the constant craving for a hearty, carb-laden comfort meal whenever you cut your food intake for too long. What solutions are there for those addicted to heavy carb intakes?

Meet the Miracle Noodle – a little-known good-as-zero-carb/calorie noodle/ rice product available for purchase online that can transform your favourite meals from heavy to healthy. Not just that, the product is also gluten-free, halal-certified and all natural, making it perfect for diabetics, celiacs and anyone who wants to eat healthier when indulging on starchy stuff like rice and noodle, staples in Asian meals.

According to the official website, Miracle Noodles’ shirataki noodles are made of three ingredients – Glucomannan, which is soluble fiber extracted from the root of a Japanese plant called a Konnyaku Imo, water and a calcium additive. This calcium additive is added to the noodles to keep their shape intact. This is a food grade calcium additive known as pickling lime or calcium hydroxide. The noodles contain no soy, tofu, gluten/casein, legume or gluten.

All of the noodles carried under the Miracle Noodle brand are made from the same ingredients with the exception of the black shirataki. The black shirataki has the same ingredients as the others, but also has seaweed flakes on the noodles. There are also 10 calories per serving for the black shirataki whereas it’s almost zero for the normal shirataki noodles.

Due to the low calorie nature of the noodles, Miracle Noodles’ ready-to-eat meal packs, available with flavours like Japanese Curry, Spaghetti Marinara, Thai Tom Yum, Pad Thai and Green Curry, contains no more than 100 calories per serving. This makes it easy to achieve daily calorie deficit for those on diet.

Additionally, as the noodles are mainly made up of fiber, this slows digestion and prolongs the sensation of fullness. Fiber also allows for the slower absorption of glucose and is beneficial for those with diabetes. Fiber helps with cholesterol control too. It binds bile acids that are secreted from the gall bladder. These bile acids have cholesterol in them and are bound up by the fiber in the Miracle Noodle and then excreted.

Interestingly, Miracle Noodles claim that their noodles can be eaten paste the printed expiration date – as long as the noodles’ shape is intact. The only time they become inedible is when the noodles are said to dissolve in the water they’re packed with.

All the noodles are manufactured in Thailand, with the exception of the angel hair shirataki noodles, black and white fettucini and rice which are made in the United States.

I tried a packet of their ready-to-eat noodles and it was very easy to prepare. Just pour the content into a bowl and microwave it or heat it up on the stove. The texture do feel chewy and tangy like real noodle and you do feel full after eating a serving. The best thing is that it is just 80 calories!

The company dedicates to give back 10% of their profits to the Little Bells Promiseland Children’s Home in Nepal, where children, whose parents can no longer afford to care for, are offered a home and access to an education skills learning so that they can return to their villages and families, and develop their rural community.
