Skyscanner can tell you where to spend your vacation based on how many leaves you have left this year

Do you use up all your holiday leaves? Or do you encash them? Or worse, is it your “gift” to the company?

Skyscanner has released a list of the best flight deals for November and December getaways – a period where flight prices typically surge.

What flights are the best to book?

The latest Skyscanner data reveals that London is typically the cheapest long-haul destination for Singaporeans to fly to in November and December, with prices for return flights as low as SGD$587.

Whilst for those with limited leave left, the upcoming Deepavali public holiday is a way to turn two-days leave into a five-day break, with last-minute return flights for under SGD$184 to Phnom Penh, Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur still available. Singaporeans can use Skyscanner’s Public Holiday Planner to check out up-to-date flight deals for a Deepavali getaway.

Europe’s capitals await those with loads of leave

According to Skyscanner’s data, Athens is typically the second best bargain for a long-haul trip at this time of year, with flight prices under SGD$589, followed by Iceland’s capital Reykjavik – home of the famous Northern Lights – which can be reached for SGD$724 from Singapore.

Adventure for Singaporeans with limited leave left

Closer to home, Skyscanner reveals that Australia’s Gold Coast and Sydney are two of the cheapest destinations to visit in November and December with return flight prices typically starting as low as SGD$342 and SGD$340 respectively.

With direct flights taking under 8 hours, they are perfect for Singaporeans with three or four days left who want to experience a classic Aussie summer.

Singaporeans with just one or two days left in the bank will need to set their sights in Asia, but there’s still plenty of opportunity for adventure with Yangon’s Shwedagon Pagoda and Vietnam’s Halong Bay both accessible in under 4 hours; for SGD $150 return.

No leave doesn’t mean no life

And even those with no leave left shouldn’t despair; Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Ho Chi Minh City, and Penang are all reachable in under 2 hours, with end-of-year flights typically as low as SGD$80.

But for Singaporeans who can’t travel anymore this year, now is the perfect time to take advantage of staying at home to get organised and to start 2018 holiday planning. Skyscanner’s Best Time to Book tool shows that booking flights for 10 of Singapore’s most-popular destinations is typically between 21–25 weeks in advance can benefit from average savings of 21–22%, so it pays to plan ahead for next year’s leave allowance.
