Sundown Festival 2017 features local artistes

Sundown Festival will be held at City Beach Resort on 5 August featuring local artistes Derrick Hoh, FARRAGO, Jack & Rai, Jason Chung, Ling Kai and The Summer State.

In the past eight years, close to 100 artistes from all over Asia has been to Singapore to perform on one stage at the Sundown Festival to celebrate the diversity of Asian culture and music.

Artistes who have performed here include Shilah Amzah from Malaysia in 2014, Show Luo from Taiwan in 2011 and they were also the first producer to introduce FT Island from Korea back in 2009 when the founders first organised the festival here.

Here’s a look at who’s performing:

Derrick Koh

Farrago has been featured on indie music channel, Lush 995FM, and performed live in Japan and Singapore. They recently released their debut album “Trilby Hats and Sunflowers” in September 2015, available on digital platform iTunes.

Jack & Rai

Starting out as solo acoustic musicians way back in 2002, Jack & Rai are veterans in the local music scene. They were named Elle magazine’s Musicians of the Year in 2009 and their hit songs like FIONA and THE FA LA LA SONG have garnered them a cult following of loyal fans.

Jason Chung

This veteran artiste who has been in the music scene for more than 25 years, gained popularity when he won as champion in The Pioneer 3rd Asian Karaoke Championship. Together with his band ‘The Typhoon’ he performed at various hotspots in Singapore like Shanghai Dolly, Baby Face and Dragonfly.

Ling Kai

A bilingual singer-songwriter from Singapore, Ling Kai shot to fame in 2008 after her recording of ‘Larkin Step’ on YouTube which reached a million views. She was the winner of the 2012 Red Bull Singer-songwriter contest in the finals of Chinese reality TV singing show ‘Sing My Song’.

A well-known pop/rock band, their optimism and positive outlook is exemplified by their name, derived from the ‘summer state of mind’. The Summer State has opened for international acts like Simple Plan, Yellowcard, and Mayday Parade. The band believes in writing music that is timeless and honest and therefore bring a very fresh vibe to the festival atmosphere.

The Sundown Festival is on 5 August and doors will open from 4pm. General admission tickets are available at $15 (excluding ticketing charge) from SISTIC.
