Technology Commentary: Ban VPN?

Have you read the news about VPN technology being reviewed as part of changes to our Copyright laws?

For a country whose PM can code… this bit of news is really alarming because this is akin to saying:

– Ban cough syrups because people are abusing it as intoxicating substances.
– Ban internet because there’s how terrorists communicate
– Ban public transport because molestors molest young girls on buses.

While trying to be a smart nation, many bit of news in SG shows the extend in which our policy makers lack knowledge of technology or lack access to those with knowledge of technology.

Don’t just think of banning anything you don’t understand leh.
