Hawker centres have been an iconic food culture in Singapore where many tourists love to visit and Singaporeans grew up from it. Serving delicious local delights at affordable prices has always been hawker centres main attractiveness. To ensure every diners consume clean and safe food, food hygiene during preparation is important.
Ci Yuan Hawker Centre is opened in August 2015 and managed by Fei Siong Food Management Pte Ltd. My first impression of this place? A clean environment. With the cleaners well-trained, I could hardly find any uncleared plates on the tables and litters on the floor. This greatly minimises the chance of birds flying into this hawker centre to consume the leftover food.
Designed with high-leveled ceilings and large ceiling fans, the atmosphere of Ci Yuan Hawker Centre is not stuffy at all. To eliminate bad food odors from rubbish bins, disposed food are grind in a huge food processor machine. After this grinding process, these leftover food turns into liquids, where they are sealed up into bottles before disposal.
What really interest me is the self-payment kiosks located in every food stalls. This is a very efficient and user-friendly technology where cash are inserted and the right amount of change are given back. This minimises any change errors and improves the productivity of the hawkers. Now, the hawkers can concentrate on preparing delicious food for everybody.
Ci Yuan Hawker Centre is a leading example for today’s hawker centres. It is clean, handicapped-friendly, family-friendly and equips with technology to improve our overall dining experiences. Now, I can enjoy my delicious Kway Chap from the famous To-Rico Guo Shi (多丽哥粿汁) from store #01-30.
