GE2015: What to do if you lost your poll card

Help!

I cannot find my poll card this morning! What should I do?

As silly as it may seems, it does happen.

My wife and I cannot find our poll cards this morning, even after hunting high and low all over in our tiny 3-room flat.

Fear not.

Simply go to the Singapore Elections Department website, go to this URL, login with your Singpass and then print out the ePoll Card issued.

If you don’t have a printer at home, save it on a USB drive by exporting the ePoll Card as a pdf file and  get it printed at the neighbourhood printing store or a friend’s place.

If you still have problem, contact the Elections Department directly:

Before you head out, do read this list of 5 things to consider before voting.

Remember, your vote is secret. Vote without fear. Vote wisely.

As fellow Singaporeans head to the polls today, I saw some interesting buzz on social media.

Ho Ching, the wife of Lee Hsien Loong posted this on her facebook page:

Roosters are good luck. Does this signify a major victory coming for the incumbent?

The Elections Department issued a series of Do’s and Don’ts when voting and when at the polling stations. This guy and his mother got creative:

Do they signify the anger on the ground and that the tides are turning against the whites?

To be honest, I find the campaigning for GE2015 to be significantly milder compared to GE2011. There wasn’t much drama, neither were there much mudslinging. Vanilla is how I would describe the campaigning so far.

The two strongest parties, the People’s Action Party and the Workers’ Party largely stuck to their scripts and did not do anything differently or attempt anything out of the norm.

Both sides are probably playing it safe as the stakes are high and no one is really sure how the results will be like tonight.

A pleasant surprise would be the resurrection of mainstream support for the Singapore Democratic Party’s Dr Chee Soon Juan. He managed to build up support from strength to strength after each rally with his passionate and well-delivered speeches. Which is why he is top on my list of top 5 speakers in GE2015.

All the best to all the GE2015 candidates from all the political parties. No matter which side you are on, if you are voted in, please remember that your job is to make Singapore a better place for all Singaporeans, regardless of which political party they support.

By the way, did you wonder why is Polling Day on 11 September and not 12 as it usually would have been on a Saturday?

A friend of mine had an interesting answer to that. As today is the last day of the Chinese Seventh Month, all the ghosts would have to go back to the other world. We would want our ah gongs and ah mas to know the results right? In particular, one special Ah Gong.

Good night and good luck.
