Over the weekend, my family and I braved the crazy heat and headed for an outdoor event at The Float @ Marina Bay – the Rise & Shine Carnival 2015 on Saturday, 18 April, billed as “Singapore’s largest outdoor carnival”.
The event ran from 8 to 11am and was held to raise awareness on healthy development of children through good dietary and lifestyle habits. We thought it will be nice for Asher to wake up earlier over the weekend and enjoy some outdoor activities.
Dr. Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State for Health, was the guest of honour for the event. Other interesting guests included Rovio’s Angry Birds mascot and Manchester United football legend, Bryan Robson.
Here are some of the event pictures:
Overall, I think it is a great initiative, but the crazy heat is too hot to be outdoor and directly under the scorching sun, especially for very young kids. Instead of seeing parents with kids enjoying their picnics on the lawn, everyone were hiding under a small tent to escape the heat. No fault of the organisers, but it might be better to move it to a timing when the sun is not so brutal.
