Submitted on March 6, 2015 at 5:35 pm My husband always ask me why i dont wish to call and talk on the phone but instead use whatapps or sms to communicate. He is very conventional and he think the best way of communication is through picking up the phone and call even for the simplest stuff so that there is no miscommunication. There is where the extra 100 minutes of talk time will come in handy. So for the most unimportant things to me, but it may be critical from my husband’s view point, i will just dial the number and call as he prefers. Unlimited data usage by Singtel WIFI is a godsend to me. As i am working mother, I am either at work or busy with the kids. But at the end of the day, i wish to connect with my friends and family by chatting with them on whatapps. To me whatapps has revolutionised the way we connect and communicate. Somehow it is an easier mode of communication and sharing of photos, voice and video with family and friends which we dont get to meet often. And it is all about having unlimited data as there is no end to whatapps.
I am a Singtel customer once again. Earlier this month, I have just contracted with Singtel on their Combo Plan 2 with an additional 2GB data per month.
My mobile plan is part of a range of Asia’s first WiFi-integrated mobile plans, launched by Singtel in August last year:
The Combo plans are designed to meet consumers’ fast growing mobile data needs by offering high-speed WiFi usage in addition to 4G data bundles, providing customers with better value for money than existing plans. They offer up to 200 minutes more local talktime and up to 500 more SMS messages:
Beginning from August 2014, the Combo plans replaced Singtel’s existing plans for customers who renew their contracts or subscribe to new lines.
Singtel premium WiFi network
Unlike free public WiFi networks, SingTel’s WiFi network is fully managed to ensure high quality performance. It can provide connectivity that is five times faster than typical free public WiFi services. (Average typical speeds of Singtel WiFi range from 4 to 10Mbps.)
Coverage is currently available at more than 100 hotspots at 11 locations, including popular shopping malls such as Raffles City, Plaza Singapura, Junction 8, Funan DigitalMall, Bugis+, The Atrium and Changi City Point. SingTel will progressively roll out the network to all CapitaMall shopping centres.
Hotspots will also be installed in Singapore’s busiest underground MRT stations and major bus interchanges. Customers can enjoy coverage at Orchard, City Hall and Raffles Place stations from 22 August 2014. The service will be progressively rolled out to 16 MRT stations on the North-East Line, as well as eight other stations with high commuter traffic over the next nine months.
By March 2015, approximately 1,000 hotspots at more than 100 locations across the island will have been deployed. These numbers are expected to double by March 2016.
For the full list of SingTel WiFi hotspot locations, please visit www.singtel.com/stwifi.
I will be testing out the WiFi at some of the hotspot locations and sharing in a follow-up blog post to see if it lives up to the claims. Stay tuned. Meanwhile, I have a giveaway for fellow Singtel users!
