Sup ’til 2am every night at Chinatown Food Street until CNY eve

Craving fresh frog porridge from Geylang Lor 9, satay bee hoon from Old Airport Road, and Soon Soon popiah from Maxwell Road? You can get them all, and more, at one place: Chinatown Food Street!

Other than Boon Tat Street, Chinatown Food Street is probably the only other place in Singapore where you can still see street hawker stalls and street kiosks. But, unlike Boon Tat Street which opens only after 6pm, Chinatown Food Street is open from 11am every day.

Until 18 February 2015, Chinatown Food Street will be open for business ’til 2am. And with its current capacity boosted to more than 800 seats this month, you can be sure to find a table. Night owls now have more reason to stay up late in the days leading to Chinese New Year.

It’s not just about the lip-smacking spread of local delights from 24 hawker stalls. It’s also about eating, drinking and making merry, surrounded by festive decorations. There’ll be activities like the lighting of sparklers and and games for the whole family to add to the fun.

Prices range from S$2.50 to S$10.00 a dish, with the exception of Yu Sheng (S$28 for small, S$38 for large). If you haven’t been to Smith Street in a while, you might be surprised to see that it is now entirely covered by a high-ceiling glass canopy shelter so you can dine al fresco rain or shine. An internal spot cooling system keeps the heat at bay. It’s the best place you can go to sample hawker food from all over Singapore, in this recreated street hawker style setting which harks back to the olden days.
