The homely restaurant, Gu Ma Jia (姑妈家) at Tai Thong Crescent turned five last year and had launched some new dishes as well as a kids’ loyalty program:
I was invited for a tasting back in December to sample their new dishes as well as some of their Chinese New Year specials. Here are the items I tried:
Their 2015 Reunion Set Menu are priced at S$488, S$588 and S$888 with no service charge and GST:
Ala carte items are available too. More details are available via their official website.
My verdict is still the same as per my previous review – prices are pretty reasonable and you get to enjoy quality zi char food in an air-conditioned environment.
By coming up with new menu items on their fifth anniversary, it also signifies that the restaurant is forward-looking and not one that takes their loyal customers for granted. There are gems among the new dishes, like the surprisingly good Ubin Lala Bee Hoon. The dish does not stand out because of its dull colours and simple ingredients, but was really satisfying to the taste buds. I like the satay cuttlefish dish as well and the nutritious bean curd soup works for Asher.
I will be back for more. 🙂
