For those who do not know, I started working for migme, a social entertainment company with over 7 million active monthly users, about two months ago. I am the community guy at migme HQ in Singapore and migme has users from Southeast Asia, South Asia, Middle East and Africa – which explains my frequent traveling recently.
Anyway, Movember is almost over, and the Audience team at migme which I am a part of, have recorded a video in our office to support the movement. Watch, have fun and hope you can share it forward:
Starring: Derek Cai
Lyrics: Sam Holmes
Music and video editing: Victoria Ho
Backing track: “Do You Want to Build a Snowman? (Karaoke Lead Vocal Demo)” by ProSound Karaoke Band
LYRICS:
Do you wanna grow a mo’, man?
And put some whiskers on your face
I wanna see some hairy lips
With curly tips
And a pointy beard in place
It only takes some stubble
And a week or two
You don’t even have to try!
Do you wanna grow a mo’, man?
You only gotta let it grow, man.
Go away, sis
Mo’kay… bye.
Do you wanna grow a mo’, man?
And make your face nice and furry
You can be a superstar
With a handlebar
Like Freddy Mercury
It gets a little boring
This clean shaven look
What are you trying to hide?
Hey bro, I know you’ve grown one
You don’t have to feel no shame
It’s Movember, we’re all growing mo’s
Underneath the nose
We’re all the same!
We only have a few days
Til we shave again
So come on let and it grow!
Do you wanna grow a mo’, man?
Movember (a portmanteau from the Australian-English diminutive word for “moustache”, “mo”, and “November”) is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer and other male cancers, and associated charities.
The Movember Foundation runs the Movember charity event, housed at Movember.com. The goal of Movember is to “change the face of men’s health.” By encouraging men (who the charity refers to as “Mo Bros”) to get involved, Movember aims to increase early cancer detection, diagnosis and effective treatments, and ultimately reduce the number of preventable deaths.
In 2012, the Global Journal listed Movember as one of the world’s top 100 NGOs (non-government organization).
