To introduce their new Pear Cider, Somersby hosted a summertime cookout at Crab In Da Bag seafood restaurant in East Coast.
I went for the cookout together with Rachel and Asher. Of course, Asher cannot drink cider, but was there to eat seafood and have fun:
We missed the first half of the programme where guests get to cook their own salted egg yolk prawns, but we did not miss the highlight for the day, which was to enjoy the barrel loads of seafood, together with Somersby cider.

Awesome isn’t it?
I will revisit Crab in Da Bag for more seafood and highly recommend it for seafood lovers. The owner said all the items on the menu are fixed price, so diners would not get any bill shock after the end of the meal. This is often the case when eating at seafood restaurants in Singapore and the items are listed at “market price” which is only disclosed upon enquiry.
The Caboodle Boil is the signature dish at Crab in Da Bag. This is priced at S$299 for the Titanic pot and S$399 (serves 3 to 4 pax) for the Gigantic pot (serves 6 to 8 pax).
The Titanic pot comes with:
The Gigantic pot comes with the following extras: 1 South African Lobster, Loligo Squid and Crayfish. The Caboodle Boil is accompanied with three dipping sauces – Louisiana lemon butter dip, Malaysian sambal dip and Thai green bird dip.
I like how everything is poured from the cooking drum on the table, with big bags to throw the shells. It gets messy and you eat with your hands, but hey, this is really the best way to enjoy good seafood!
On the new Somersby Pear Cider, it is made with 22.5% real pear juice, with no artificial sweeteners, flavours or colourings. Originating from a Danish recipe, it is deliciously light and softly sparkling with a distinctive flavour of sweet pears.
The weather is sweltering hot these days and this is just the perfect summer cider to cool down. With a 4.5% ABV, the Somersby Pear Cider is ideal for relaxed social drinking with friends or family, appealing to both young and old.
Owned and distributed by Carlsberg Signapore, Somersby Pear Cider retails at all leading supermarkets and hypermarts at S$16.80 for a pack of four bottles.
Somersby Cider is well-loved around the world for its crisp and refreshing flavour. In 2008, Carlsberg launched Somersby Apple Cider in Denmark and Norway. It is the current market leader in Denmark and the second most popular cider on the market in Norway. Today, Somersby is sold in more than 22 countries, including Singapore.
In Singapore, Somersby Cider is a popular alternative to beer and wine. It first made itself known here in 2012 with the debut of the Somersby Apple Cider. Following its success, Somersby Pear Cider will now be available in Singapore at cafes, restaurants and nightspots such as Crab in Da Bag, Wala Wala, Ice Cold Beer, One Altitude, The Coastal Settlement, Marmalade @ the Stables, Shuffle and Bliss House.
