I was introduced to One Ocean Seafood Restaurant (天翼海鲜) by my parents recently. It is located in Toa Payoh Industrial Park – not exactly the place where you expect to find a good restaurant. Then again, the Paradise Group of restaurants started the same way too with a single restaurant, Seafood Paradise (天庭海鲜), located with the industrial estates of Defu Lane.
What is saved on rental costs is passed on to the diners. The restaurant is able to lease a larger kitchen and dining area plus charge less for high quality seafood and other cuisines.
I have dined at One Ocean with my family on two occasions and so far, we are satisfied. The location is good for us, just a few minutes drive away from our home and with ample parking lots. Getting there by public transport might be a hassle.
These are the items we ordered during our last visit:
The pricing is very reasonable, similar to the prices you would expect at neighbourhood zi-char stalls – except there is air-conditioning and a more comfortable dining experience at One Ocean. The crabs are a steal and of good quality.
In summary, I find One Ocean a very satisfying restaurant for large group or family dining with an affordable menu. I will go back again.
