LP + Tetsu is a French-Japanese fusion restaurant in Singapore, helmed by one Michelin starred Chef Laurent Peugeot.

LP + Tetsu at Tanglin Mall

Chef Peugeot style is known to be playful yet elegant. The consummate chef never hesitates to break traditional culinary rules to come up with luxurious and nouveau creations that excite.

In a bid to make Michelin Star cuisine affordable, the restaurant recently presented a very reasonably priced set lunch menu, with prices from just S$28.

Encounters (S$35 for two-course and S$45 for three-course) is essentially French, whereby the chef turned ingredients such as salmon and duck breast into haute French cuisines:

Bento Box (S$28) is the chef’s homage to traditional Japanese cuisines and you will get to dig into the freshest selection of sashimi and a perfectly cooked bread pork loin that is crunchy, tender, yet juicy:

Overseeing the LP + Tetsu kitchen on Chef Peugeot’s behalf is Chef Nicolas Bisani, who has spent time time in the past two years soaking up Singapore’s cosmopolitan culture. Wanting to immerse himself in the Chinese New Year festivities, the chef was inspired to put his own spin on the traditional yusheng. His efforts culminated in the creation of two nouveau versions: French and Japanese.

Interesting?

I had a lot fun dining at LP + Tetsu, be it the lunch specials or their yusheng. Each food item is a little culinary adventure.

The yushang will be prepared upon order with the freshest ingredients. The two versions will be included in LP + Tetsu’s 2014 Chinese New Year menus. Patrons can have either the French or Japanese four-course menu (S$188 for 2 pax) to enjoy them.

The French menu will comprise the French yusheng; abalone with mushroom, spring onion and Jambon de Bayonne; pan fried salmon; and a dessert. The Japanese menu will feature the Japanese yusheng; abalone with shabu shabu, tofu and dashi consomme; kurobuta; and a dessert.

The Chinese New Year menus will be available from 15 Jan 2014 to 14 Feb 2014. Make your reservations early to avoid disappointment.

Other than good food, I quite like the restaurant’s interior design and table settings. The use of modern and sleek lines, coupled with grey and white tones, dominate the restaurant’s design, giving it a cool, yet formal feel:

I like this rock design which is used to hold cutlery at the tables

LP + Tetsu can seat 72 diners and it boasts a small private room for 8 diners. More details on the restaurant is available via their official website. 🙂
