Down with Stomach Flu (Gastroenteritis)

Pesky stomach virus that won’t go away easily

I have been down with stomach flu (gastroenteritis) since Saturday. Life has been hell. All I can do is mope in bed, visit the toilet to crap and vomit; not to mention the associated chill, body aches and lost appetite.

At it’s peak, I hit the loo over a dozen time within a night.

I have not been able to eat anything for two days, surviving on water and electrolytes salt alone. My sis told me it might take about a week before I can eat normally, based on her past experience with stomach flu.

From what I read on wikipedia, there seems to be no pharmacological therapy for stomach flu. The only relief is to replace lost fluids and electrolytes to prevent dehydration while the body purges itself.

I will be returning to office tomorrow, after a long period of absence. This was not how I envisioned my first day of work. I should be back smiling and full of energy, not weak and half dying. Sigh.
