omy.sg wins two Asian Publishing Awards

Asian Publishing Awards 2011

I am still in Bangkok for the 5th Asian Publishing Convention and am blogging from my hotel room after returning from the gala night of the Asian Publishing Awards.

omy.sg won two awards for our Singapore Blog Awards campaign! Congratulations to the omy.sg team and the local and regional blogging community who made the awards possible!

More details are available in the official press release below. I have also included some photos I took:

Singapore, 8 July 2011omy.sg, the leading bilingual news and entertainment web portal of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), received two Excellence Awards in the Asian Publishing Awards 2011. The awards were given out at the Gala Dinner ceremony of the Asian Publishing Convention at The Landmark Bangkok, Thailand tonight.

The Asian Publishing Awards (APA) recognises best publishing practices in Asia. It incorporates the Asian Magazine Management Awards, Asian Book Publishing Awards, Asian Corporate Communications Awards and the Asian Fashion Photography Awards with 13 categories.

omy.sg was awarded Excellence in both the Advertising Delivery category and the Best Use of UGC (User-Generated Content) category for its Singapore Blog Awards 2010 entry.

In the Advertising Delivery category, entries are judged on the use of multimedia ad delivery mechanisms to deliver results and revenue for the advertisers. For the Best Use of UGC (User-Generated Content) category, entries are judged by how well they encourage user contributions in building a virtual community.

omy.sg incorporated the use of Twitter and Facebook, as well as a microsite, in its campaign for the Singapore Blog Awards. On average, it garnered an increase of over 1 million page views every month (Nielsen Netratings, July 2010) during the campaign period. omy.sg’s Facebook and Twitter membership also grew substantially and saw more active discussion and interaction with the brand.

It is definitely a great affirmation that the Singapore Blog Awards is a great platform for individual bloggers to be engaged and connected in the social media world, while being a highly successful channel for advertisers to entice netizens with innovative and integrated campaigns.”
