There’s no better place to try out all the local hawker food in Singapore than at the Old Kallang Airport Food Centre.
Located at 51, Old Airport Road, this food centre with hundreds of hawker stalls has always been a favourite among locals for quality, authentic hawker fares.
Some of my favourite stalls there include Lao Fu Zi Char Kway Teow and Mattar Road Seafood. Expect long queues at most of the popular stalls.
However, fret not, if you are in a rush for time, there are usually at least 2 or 3 stalls selling the same food item. If the most popular one is too crowded, you can settle for the next best whereby the quality is usually nearly as good (and very likely cheaper als0).
My dad has a strange dislike for this food centre. He claims that there are so many good food available that he finds himself spoilt for choice and cannot make up his mind on which to eat!
I always find myself overeating when I visit the Old Kallang Airport Food Centre, tempted by the wide array of choices.
Below are some pictures of the food I ate on various visits:
If you have foreigner friends visiting, do consider bringing them to Old Kallang Airport Food Centre instead of the touristy, overpriced Lau Par Sat which our tourism board likes to promote.
This is the real deal for the Singapore hawker food experience. 🙂
