On Board Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas – Day 2 of 5

On the second day, Legend of the Seas (LOTS) docked at Port Klang in Malaysia at 7.30am. The bloggers went for their respective half-day tour in Kuala Lumpur. This gave the working crew some time to shoot some of the ships’ facilities and cutaway shots while they were away.

After a quick breakfast at Windjammer, we attended some of the dance classes to get some shots.

We were done by around noon. Since it was still early, the omy.sg team, together with Stanley decided to disembark from the ship and do a bit of shopping nearby.

The four of us shared a cab to a Jusco mall. It took ten minutes to get to our destination. The cab fare was steep – RM$100 one-way. Port Klang Cruise Centre where the ship had docked is relatively deserted and far from any food or shopping. The cab drivers know this and probably colluded on a fixed rate. The return fare costs the same. If you are going anywhere further into KL, it might be more worthwhile to book one of Royal Caribbean’s day tour from the ship as the charges may work out around the same (or possibly cheaper) compared to what the cab drivers will be charging you.

At the mall, the four of us parted way to do our shopping. I visited a few fashion boutiques, book shops and the supermarket. I did not buy anything except for some tidbits.

For lunch, I wanted to eat at Kim Gary restaurant initially, but the queue was too long.

In the end, I ate at Resotran Black Canyon as I had a sudden craving for coffee. I ordered one of their signature coffee and a green curry spaghetti. The coffee was good, but the spaghetti was horrible. On hindsight, I should have known better than to order such a weird east-west combination. The spaghetti tasted cold, dry with a strong alkaline note. The green curry did not have aroma in it except for spiciness.

At least the coffee was good

After lunch, I assembled with the other three and shared a cab back to our ship.

Back on LOTS, we gathered three bloggers, Calvin, Yee Leong and Darren for a cocktail sampling session with one of the Royal Caribbean bartender.

We then headed to two of the bloggers’ room to get some shots of them dressing up in formal wear for the Captain’s Night which was happening in the evening.

The ladies, Christine and Estelle were busy dolling up when we hit their room. The gentlemen, Yee Leong and Calvin were resting and taking things more leisurely.

By evening, we gathered with all the bloggers to meet up with the ship’s Captain and the other senior crew members at the ballroom.

With everyone decked in formal attire, the bloggers were excitedly snapping away with their cameras to catch each other in their most glamorous moment.

After the reception at the ballroom, we headed to Romeo & Juliet for dinner. The food bloggers were seated separately to do some interviews and food sampling.

Champagne and wine were flowing freely that night and that got some of the bloggers (eg. Darren) quite high that night.

Cheers everyone!
Performer at the lounge

After dinner, we caught a cabaret performance at the entertainment hall where the performers were doing a medley of classic Hollywood movie theme songs.

After the show, we got to met the performing cast and took some photos with them.

We then headed up to the top deck where there was a night disco going on. When we got there, there were some hot, muscular Royal Caribbean dancers dressed up as cowboys and construction workers to roused up the crowd.

Some of the bloggers stayed to party through the night. I left once the shoots were done to get some sleep.

That rounded up the second night.
