Melben Seafood @ Toa Payoh

Melben Seafood at Toa Payoh

More than a month ago, to celebrate my birthday, my sister’s birthday and Rachel’s birthday which all fall on the same date, my parents treated us to a sumptuous seafood dinner at Melben Seafood.

Melben Seafood has two restaurants. The original is in Ang Mo Kio and the one at Toa Payoh is the branch which we ate at.

They are mainly famous for their crab dishes, particularly their Crab Bee Hoon which is a must order item.

Signature Crab Bee Hoon

I find their food quality around the same as Seafood Paradise at Defu Lane, with marginally higher prices.

Butter Crab
Seafood Claypot - filled with abalones, scallops, sea cucumbers and other goodies
This mushroom with vegetable dish was too oily for our liking - stick to the seafood

However, one aspect which Melben Seafood excels in is the high quality of their crabs. The crabs are always fresh, with tangy flesh and sweet roes, regardless of the cooking style selected from their menu.

Crab lovers will dig this place. 🙂

The restaurant is always crowded at dinner time and a long wait is expected. Hence make reservation if possible.

Here’s the address and details for the two restaurants:

Ang Mo Kio
Address: Blk 232 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 #01-1222 Singapore
Opening Hours: Daily: 4.30pm – 11.30pm

Toa Payoh
Address: Blk 211 Lorong 8 Toa Payoh #01-11/15 Singapore
Tel: +65 6353 3120
