“O, Cheaper Better Faster” music video – Spoof or Tribute to Labour Chief?

Via mrbrown. This video is made by the Food Drinks And Allied Workers’ Union, an union that is listed by the National Trade Union Congress (NTUC).

Our Labour Minister, Lim Swee Say, commented recently on how Singaporeans workers need to become “cheaper, better, faster” to compete in the global economy. A few months earlier, he also coined the term “upturn the downturn” to encourage Singaporeans to think positively amidst the recession.

Both these catch-phrases were used in the lyrics for this song. I don’t know if it’s just me…. somehow, the cheesy lines, the woody, forced expression on some of the talents featured in the video made it look more like a spoof than a tribute. Do anyone else feel the same?
