Loving Hut @ Parklane Shopping Mall

Loving Hut is an international restaurant chain with restaurants in many other countries like Taiwan, the USA, Malaysia, Vietnam, Australia and Indonesia.

In Singapore alone, they have three outlets. I visited the one at Parklane Shopping Mall with Rachel some time back. The food is quite good. We ordered a Herbal Brown Rice and a Rose Lemon Juice. Health food usually tastes crappy, but the brown rice was savoury and  the rose lemon juice, reinvigorating.  Presentation of the food was great and the staff were attentive and friendly.

What we cannot stomach however… was it seems to endorse some kind of cult called Supreme Master Television. The large plasma monitor in the restaurant was playing lame programs from this Internet TV channel the entire day. Basically, the program is full of feel-good content, choosing only to report on the good news around the world and heavily slanted towards exhorting the virtues of going vegan.The program with low production value comes with subtitling in like a dozen languages which fill up more than half the screen!

Strange right?

It is unlikely Rachel and I will visit Loving Hut again even though the food wasn’t too bad. The whole dining experience feels funny lah. We enjoy healthy vegetarian dishes once in a while, but going vegan to save the world is just not our kind of thing.
