We are not at war or in a state of emergency. Moreover, there’s a quick pool of cheap labour via forced two-years conscription and ten years of forced reservist for all Singapore-born males.
Are we buying up too much expensive weapons or paying our army regulars too much? Or perhaps it’s because of the showy annual NDP whereby almost the entire army is mobilised. 🙂
