Saizeriya (サイゼリヤ) is a Japanese chain of Italian family-style budget restaurants. It is managed by Saizeriya Co. Ltd. (株式会社サイゼリヤ). It has over 750 chains in Japan alone and also have branches in major cities like Shanghai and Taipei.
Rachel and I first tried it in Taipei during our trip there early this year. We were impressed by the extremely low cost of their food and beverages which were of substantial quality. When we knew they had opened a branch here in Liang Court, we immediately went there to try it out with Mark and Meiyen.
The prices were still kept astonishingly low here, despite the high cost of retail rental. We are truly bewildered as to how Saizeriya is able to do so without making a loss. Check out the menu below; a set meal complete with soup and salad cost no more that S$8! Plain water is FOC and all other beverages are unlimited free flow for under S$4. Mind you, they offer a wide selection of beverages, not just the usual soft drink craps.
We ordered two hamburg steak sets, a pizza, a cheese rice and a ham omelette to share. I won’t say they taste fantastic (you can judge from the photos yourself), but at this kind of prices, they were at great values.
During times like these with the deepening recession and employment cut, a budget restaurant like this is timely and will serve as a great place to visit for large family or friends’ gathering without having to cough out too much. 🙂

I frequent the restaurant too when I was in Shanghai. Yes, it is cheap but quality of the food is not so good. One example will be the steak which is more like mixed unwanted meat similar to those of MacDonald's meat patties.
You can't have everything I guess.
I'd just come back from being pampered with (actually surprisingly) good Saizeriya food in Japan, and I'm disappointed by all the pictures of the outlet in Singapore I've seen on blogs so far.
The food in Saizeriya in Japan is cheap and I think, pretty good. They're presented in a very appetizing fashion, and my friends and I are always satisfied with our meal there. The low prices, we feel, is just a bonus.
If you ever visit Japan, might I recommend that you visit one of the many Saizeriya's there, just to compare ;)
Thanks Rin. In fact, I am going Japan for a holiday this coming Sat. Will go try it out! :)
I am living in Japan now. I think the Saizeriya commented by Rin is not true. It is not nice here as well. Other than the fact it is cheap. I give u try it 3 times and you will stop going. Their menu never changes. I rather pay more to go Jonathan's
