Kuriya Japanese Restaurant (Raffles City)

This unassuming restaurant located at the basement of Raffles City shopping centre offers great Japanese food with superb service, so it goes, as claimed by one of Rachel’s friend.

Hence we went to try it out for lunch when we were shopping in the area one day. Well, the food and service was indeed, great; but her friend forgot to mention another crucial point, it is expensive! 🙁

We only ordered two dishes – a bento set and a grilled sweet fish. The starting price on the menu is at least S$30 for the most basic bento set which serves one. Our bill came to almost S$70 plus GST and service charge.

Pricey bento set
Small serving of sashimi, enough for one baby
Puny sweet fish, enough to feed half a baby

I don’t think I will go back there again as it is out of my budget for a shopping mall restaurant meal. What Rachel and I ordered was actually only enough to fill one person. A decent meal there will probably cost more than S$120 for two. Not worth it, based on my mediocre salary. Instead, I will settle for Koh Grill & Sushi Bar which I blogged about previously for more than half the price and equally good service.

Anyway, if you are not as cheapskate as me and is willing to pay for quality food and service, here’s the detailed info for Kuriya Japanese Restaurant below:
