Standing on the whole of Singapore

Titled simply as “Singapore”, this is an installation piece by Thai artist, Wit Pimkanchanapong, created for the Singapore Biennale 2008. The interactive artwork allows visitors to write their own notes on stickers provided by the artist and paste them onto the Google Earth image-map of Singapore.

"Singapore" in Old City Hall
Alvinology!

Frankly, even though I appreciate this installation for it’s novelty, it goes against the principle of the Internet by narrowing down the communication channels to just visitors of the chamber, as compared to the whole wide world on Google Earth. In this respect, the online version is a much better choice isn’t it? In addition, the large amount of stickers used is also extremely environment unfriendly. 🙂
