GST HIKE: COMING SOON! – Island Wide

After the long wait, it’s finally coming.

Read in Straits Times today that quite a few retail outlets, coffee shops and supermarkets will not be passing on the GST Hike to the consumer for up to the next six months.

If the pain has to be administered sooner or later; might as well do it now and get it over and done with.

A six month delay will not solve the root of the problem. Though it will buy some time and allows the government to appear benevolent – just like the GST offset package. I am thankful for the ‘free’ money, but I still know that it’s not the end of the story and I will still end up worse off in the long run.

If 1 July 2007 is going to be a bad news day. Then say it as it is lah.
