This is interesting – a feature length film is being showed on Youtube. According to TechCrunch, it’s believed to be the first time that the Google-owned site is doing this.

I haven’t got the time to sit down and catch it yet. The whole film runs for 71:54 minutes and the Youtubelink claims that the film will only be shown for “one week only”.

Here’s a short synopsis from the director:
“It’s about our lives. Being alone in a city, wanting to be in a relationship but feeling there are no good ways to start a connection and then breaking out of a rut, jumping feet first into something deeper and crazier than either of us expected.”

Here’re some short nuggets of information on the film, taken from the official site:

Awards & festivals:
-World Premiered @ Slamdance 2005
-Special Audience Award @ SXSW 2005
-Best New Directors Brooklyn International
-2 Spirit Award Nominations n 2006.
-Won Undiscovered Gems Showcase Sundance Channel Audience Award in 2006

Other Achievements:
-Really Didn’t Speak for 4 months
-Created film in 14 months using credit cards.
-Attended 20 film festivals in first 9 months.
-Launched video podcast the day the video iPod was announced.
-Video Podcast promoted by MySpace & iTunes.
-Over 1 million views to episodes 1 to 8.
-Theatrical self release to 6 major markets.
-Sundance Channel Awarded $50,000 plus theatrical dates for winning Undiscovered Gems Showcase.

Here’s the Youtube link – enjoy watching it if you have the time 🙂 (and do drop me a comment to let me know if I should watch it as well).
