The vibrant Songkran Festival has returned to Downtown East, transforming the venue into a lively hub of Thai culture and festivities from March 15 to April 15. This year’s edition promises an even bigger celebration, blending traditional elements with modern entertainment, making it a must-visit for families and thrill-seekers alike.
A Star-Studded Opening

The festival kicked off in style on March 22 with a dazzling performance by Thai celebrity Tachaya Prathumwan, better known as ‘Keng’. The multi-talented artist, renowned for his fusion of traditional and contemporary music, set the tone for a month packed with cultural showcases and high-energy activities. His electrifying stage presence, backed by stunning production, was a highlight for attendees.
Water Play and Family Fun

At Wild Wild Wet (WWW), the festival’s water play zones have been a major draw. Equipped with interactive shooting targets, inflatable mazes, and dunk tanks, the park offers endless fun for all ages. The addition of Hasbro Nerf Super Soaker water blasters—featuring an innovative dunk-and-fill design—added a competitive edge to the splash battles.

For those seeking a more relaxed experience, outdoor movie screenings at Neptune Cove provided the perfect escape. Families enjoyed Disney favorites like Moana and Finding Nemo under the stars, complete with complimentary popcorn and LED candy floss.

Cultural Highlights

Traditional Thai dance performances and Muay Thai demonstrations added depth to the festivities. Visitors marveled at the graceful regional dances, while Muay Thai enthusiasts were treated to ceremonial Wai Kru rituals and demo matches featuring champions like Thailand’s Rungubon Eminent and Singapore’s Kenji Ong. Youngsters also had the chance to join trial Muay Thai classes, learning basic moves in a fun, interactive setting.
Exclusive Perks and Dining

Festival-goers could redeem limited-edition premiums, such as super soakers and Songkran towel bags, by spending at designated outlets. Thai eateries around Downtown East, including Siam Square Mookata and Sakon Thai, offered special deals like complimentary mango sticky rice and discounts on spicy dishes, completing the authentic experience.
A Grand Finale
As the festival draws to a close today, April 13, attendees can look forward to a final night of live DJ sets, Muay Thai bouts, and cultural performances beside the Tsunami Wave Pool. Head down to Downtown East today if you have not done so yet to beat the heat!
