“Lara Croft” scales world’s highest bungee jump

Okay, not the real Lara Croft because she is just a fictional character, but renowned cosplayer Jenn Croft scaled the world’s highest bungee jump dressed as Lara Croft, the fearless heroine in the Tomb Raider series, before leaping from a 764-feet high platform off the iconic Macau Tower.

The publicity stunt was done to celebrate the global debut of Rise of the Tomb Raider on Xbox.

Stepping into the shoes of Lara Croft, Jenn Croft scaled the AJ Hackett Macau Tower Bungee Jump in a Lara Croft costume of her own creation, complete with gear that Lara can craft and customise in Rise of the Tomb Raider.

The exhilaration of Lara’s plunge mirrored the delight of gamers across Asia, as fans tuned in to watch the event via the #HackTheIce live stream.

“Lara Croft is one of the most popular video game characters among female cosplayers, as well as the general cosplay community. She is a great inspiration for people to step out of their comfort zone, take a risk and achieve their goals. This jump is dedicated to all the passionate Lara Croft and Tomb Raider fans from Asia, as well as the rest of the world. I hope everyone will have as much fun playing Rise of the Tomb Raider as I did flying in mid-air,” said Jenn Croft.

As part of the launch celebrations, fans who tuned into to the #HackTheIce live stream got a first-hand preview of never-before-seen footage from Rise of the Tomb Raider, as well as opportunities to interact with Jenn Croft and Meagan Marie, the Senior Community Manager at Crystal Dynamics, the developers of Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Fans also took part in an interactive contest where they posed questions bearing the #HackTheIce hashtag to Jenn Croft via social media, and voted to determine which next ice target she will hack to reveal prizes for participating fans.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is now available exclusively on Xbox, and can be ordered via the Microsoft Store.
