Esplanade presents The Magic Ocean (奇幻海洋)

As part of the Huayi Festival (华艺节) this year, Esplanade presents The Magic Ocean (奇幻海洋) – a local theatre production for children aged 2 to 4, directed by Ian Loy and with music by Stan x Soap.

Our family went to catch the afternoon show at 2pm today.

Unlike usual theatre performances where kids are expected to sit still and participate from their seats, for The Magic Ocean, kids are allowed to roam about and interact directly with the performers and props:

I find this perfect for kids in the target age group who will get restless if they can’t move around. Asher had a lot of fun and so were all the other kids who attended. In fact, many did not want to leave the performance hall when the show ended!

Synopsis:

Come on an underwater adventure down below at The Magic Ocean.

Swim with fishes great and small or crawl sideways with the friendly crab and starfish. Hide and play peek-a-boo in a large clam shell or peacefully glide through the sea with turtles. Get ready to ride the rolling waves or flee far, far away from the fearsome shark.

In this theatrical experience specially designed for 2 – 4 year olds, children will discover a magical world through a visual and aural spectacle that combines shadow play, music as well as interaction.

So sit along the seabed among the bright and colourful corals and watch the wonders of the sea come alive in The Magic Ocean.

Advisory: Recommended for children aged 2–4 years old. Tickets are required for all (including infants-in-arm). Audience will be seated on the floor.
